Join your Community at the upcoming AGM ( Annual General Meeting) on Monday September 27 at 7:00 PM at the South View Alliance Church, some of the issues include your board elections, The Shawnee Golf Course application and the proposed cell tower on the Peace Lutheran Church property. Bring along a neighbour. Little can be accomplished without all the community residents getting involved.

Never mind the scuttlebutt.

If it’s golf you want at a challenging course next door, bring your game to Shaw-Nee Slopes Golf Course in southwest Calgary.

The club may be short at 6,221 yards, but it’s definitely made longer by narrow fairways lined by trees, a couple of twists and plenty of well-placed hazards, both sand and water. It’s certainly a test for every level of player.

And conditions are mint.

Not bad for a course that many golfers believe is no longer open for business.

It’s open, alright.

“We are beginning to plan for next season,” said Shaw-Nee Slopes golf shop manager Kevin Moote. “So it looks like we will be here for the 2011 season.”

For this season, the course is operating with weekday specials in place. All day Monday, green fees cost $43, which includes a power cart.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. -2 p.m., green fees are $43 and include power cart.
