30 Meter Wireless Tower on Beacon Hill.

August 15, 2009 17:42 by Norm Rousseau

A proposed standard monopole Wireless Telecommunications 30 meter (100 Feet) Tower is located at this site 14640 - 6 Street S.W legal plan 4845 Block D. Attached is the plans for the monopole Antenna by Alcatel-Lucent. The equipment will be located in two cabinets. Telecomunication antenna towers and installation are federally regulated and the City of Calgary is not the approving authority for these structures. Industry Canada the federally liciencing body, requires that the local land use authority be consulted for input whenever a tower is proposed. The Development and Building Approvals Business Unit is responsible for reviewing these submissions. A letter of support or non support, is sent to the applicant upon completion of the Cities review. On most ocassions, we can successfully influence the location of a cell tower and or antenna or even aspects of it's design. The City cannot however, prevent Industry Canada from ultimately giving permission for such towers to be erected, even if they contravene our policy.
