Although we are finishing off an interesting summer of strange weather, The Land Use Committee (LUC) has been busy working to prepare for an anticipated re-zoning application by the new owners of the golf course, Geo-Energy Enterprises. As reported on CBC radio, July 28, 2009, we anticipate the application to be submitted sometime during the month of September. 
Due to some foresight on the part of the LUC, a team was established in June to prepare a response on behalf of the community whenever the application circulation is received by SECA.
The Application Response Team consists of volunteers from the community who have experience and/or expertise in the areas of Traffic, City Services, Environment, Public Relations and the City Planning and Administration processes.
Another volunteer team currently being recruited for by our Coordinator of Volunteers is the Community Outreach Team. This team will be responsible for communicating to surrounding communities what’s happening with the golf course with a goal of gaining support from these communities in event that the application reaches a public hearing status.
Other teams are also starting to form. If you are interested in becoming part of the Community Outreach team or are interested in other volunteer opportunities, please contact our Coordinator of Volunteers, Melissa Baisi at Melissa@secavolunteers.org. If you have already signed up for volunteering, Melissa will be contacting you shortly to determine your interest area. Volunteers are what make this community great, so please continue to get involved.
Please remember to attend the AGM on Monday September 28 at 7:00 PM at the Peace Lutheran Church and get the latest information on the golf course and vote in your 2009-2010 board of directors.
